Rangers are looking to roll back the years and bring a popular behind-the-scenes figure back to Ibrox.
Derek McInnes has already added Allan McGregor to his Rangers coaching staff, with the former number one joining as the first-team goalkeeping coach.
His arrival followed Sal Bibbo’s Ibrox departure, as the 50-year-old joined newly-promoted Premier League side Coventry City.

Jim McAlister set to make Ibrox return in the coming days
Rangers Review’s Chris Jack reported that Jim McAlister will be making his return to Ibrox over the next few days.
McAlister was the club’s iconic kitman, but parted ways with them three years ago in a controversial fashion.
However, Jim Gillespie, the Gers CEO, held positive talks with McAlister with a view to bringing him back.

This is part of the club’s behind-the-scenes structure, with the 40-year-old returning after an agreement has been struck.
The 40-year-old ended his playing career in January 2021 following a successful time at Greenock Morton and moved to Ibrox following that.
He got promoted to Chief Kitman in 2022, following the death of Jimmy Bell.
McAlister moved to Saudi Arabia to join Steven Gerrard’s setup at Al Ettifaq and was also Scotland’s kitman for the 2026 World Cup.

What happened surrounding McAlister’s controversial Rangers departure?
James Bisgrove, when he was the Rangers CEO, sacked McAlister without providing a reason for his termination.
The Light Blues even failed to file a defence or appear at the employment tribunal that was brought up against them by their former employee.
There were reports that the board had accused McAlister of misconduct regarding kit management, but this was never confirmed by anyone at the club.
Having seen no evidence provided to justify the termination, the Glasgow Employment Tribunal ruled completely in McAlister’s favour, and Rangers were ordered to pay him £13,000 in damages.
The Scotsman released a statement following the judgement to claim that he was falsely accused and that there was no evidence provided for the decision.
