Rangers have responded after the Europa League Twitter account raved about ‘sensational’ reactions from Allan McGregor.

Bears were quick to engage with the official EL account over the course of the 2020/21 campaign, dominating polls and celebrating the achievements of Ibrox stars.

Since the Gers were eliminated from the competition in mid-March, there’s been next to no Rangers-related content on the feed, with the exception of Borna Barisic recently being named in the top-performing XI of the season.

On Tuesday afternoon, though, the EL account started a lengthy thread of ‘memorable’ saves from last season and they kicked things off with McGregor’s scarcely-believable stop in the Last 16 first-leg against Slavia Prague.

A Slavia player had powered a header towards the bottom right corner and it had looked destined for the net before the veteran dived full-stretch to his left to not only keep the ball out but to hold onto it.

In the clip, McGregor’s teammates can be seen applauding the stop and fans raved about it at the time.

The EL throwback tweet praised the 39-year-old’s ‘sensational’ reactions and added the mind-blown emoji.

The official Rangers Twitter account later responded to the post, writing: “No need for a thread, it doesn’t get better than this” alongside a shocked face and raised hands emoji.

McGregor only conceded 30 goals in 42 appearances last season, ending the campaign with a whopping 22 clean sheets and winning the Player of the Year award at the club’s end-of-season dinner.

In other news, Rangers have confirmed the departures of 10 Academy players, including a shock exit for a starlet who had signed a deal until 2023.
