Rangers have “raised concerns” directly with a leading Scottish journalist for comments made about Alfredo Morelos and referee Andrew Dallas following the 3-0 win over St. Mirren.
The Ibrox support was stunned when Scottish Sun chief football writer Robert Grieve referred to the Colombian forward as a “squealing striker” in his match report.

Rangers fans were also perturbed by Grieve’s analysis that Morelos “conned” the referee but missed out other key incidents which were more deserving of criticism.
In his Scottish Sun match report, Grieve criticises whistler Andrew Dallas by saying:
“Andrew Dallas dished out the game’s first booking to Nathan Sheron for a foul on Alfredo Morelos but he was conned by the squealing striker. Generally Dallas didn’t have a great game as he missed obvious fouls.”
Grieve would then go on to rate the whistler’s performance as a 5.
Naturally, Rangers fans were angered by the unnecessary connotations of “squealing striker” and by any attempts to suggest that Morelos had dived to get a rival a yellow card.
One fan took to Twitter to criticise Grieve for the comments before the journalist eventually replied:
Grieve would reply asking if he got the judgement wrong:
After being shown the footage, Grieve would then backtrack claiming that his statement – which is still on the Scottish Sun’s website – was “not” a criticism of Alfredo Morelos.
Rangers fans weren’t happy at this response and gave the journo an earful on Twitter as they flat-out disagreed with his interpretation of events:

Such has been the severity of the comments Rangers SLO Greg Marshall has claimed that the club has “raised concerns directly with the journalist in question”.
Rangers have taken a new direction with press privileges this season inviting fan media to be a part of the media operations at the club.
This is in response to what many fans view as unfair coverage of the Ibrox club in the mainstream press.
