Rangers have provided a remarkable update on 150th anniversary kit sales.

On Thursday morning, just prior to the MyGers open training session at Ibrox, the club released a fourth Castore-made kit of the 2021/22 season.

The stunning white sponsorless design pays tribute to the club’s first team photograph in 1877, while the goalkeeper kit is a soft blue colour.

Rangers unveiled the kit in a brilliant video and later confirmed that the first team will wear it in a competitive fixture at some stage during the campaign.

Some fans have criticised what Castore have produced so far this season but the reaction to the 150th anniversary kit was extremely positive.

It’s now clear that as well as praising the design on social media, supporters were purchasing the kit in their droves.

Rangers tweeted on Friday afternoon confirming that over 10,000 shirts were sold in less than 24 hours following the launch.

It’s an incredible response from the fanbase, especially given that three other kits, as well as training and leisurewear ranges, have all been released in recent months.

With Castore guaranteeing at the start of their multi-year partnership that Rangers would directly benefit from each individual sale, a sizeable cash boost looks to be heading the club’s way.
