Jack Butland may have played his final game for Rangers as Danny Rohl plans a squad overhaul this summer.

Questions have been asked of Rohl’s management of the final few games of the season, but the board will still back him in the transfer market.

A number of positions need to be addressed as the aim is to win the Scottish Premiership title next season.

How long will Danny Rohl be at Rangers?

Contract talks for Liam Kelly could see Jack Butland being sold

Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack reported that the club are in talks with Liam Kelly over a new contract.

Kelly, whose deal runs out in June, is currently on course to become a free agent going into the transfer window.

However, Rohl wants the 30-year-old to stay on at the club and be the second-choice goalkeeper.

This could mean Jack Butland’s future at Rangers hangs in the balance, as there are plans to sign a new goalkeeper.

Pierce Charles is admired by Rohl, and the German wants a reunion with the Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper at Ibrox.

Initially, it was not clear if he was signed as a backup for Butland, but the fact that Kelly is in extension talks means that the English goalkeeper could now be shown the door.

What is Kelly expected to earn at Rangers if he signs a new deal?

Kelly is reportedly earning a meagre £7,000/week at Ibrox, being the second-choice goalkeeper.

However, if he is to sign a new deal and talks are ongoing, he may be looking for a slight bump in his weekly wages.

Rangers are doing decently financially following the takeover, but it is not like there are ample resources to dish out on player wages.

They also will not be playing Champions League football next season, which will be a major dent in their plans.

Despite that, they are in a position to take Kelly’s wages closer to the £9,000/week mark as Rohl will count on him to help the new keeper, potentially Charles, adapt to life at the new club.

The Scotsman also has international experience, which will come in handy, and he is known to be a positive influence behind the scenes.
