Rangers predicted XI vs Man Utd: Jack Butland back and Cyriel Dessers call made

Rangers have yet to beat Man Utd in a competitive fixture and Philippe Clement will need to be creative against the Premier League outfit.

Injuries, suspension and Europa League restrictions affect who the manager has available with squad regulars like Cole McKinnon, Robbie Fraser and Alex Lowry no longer at the club either.

Clement was able to rest a few bodies against Fraserburgh though which means that key players should be fit and firing on all cylinders for Rangers to face Man Utd.

Rangers predicted XI vs Man Utd

Options are limited, however, there should still be a familiar look to the starting XI, even if the bench might not instil any fear in Ruben Amorim.

Jack Butland has been back in training for a week and should be restored between the sticks, having spent time on loan at Old Trafford, his familiarity could be a calming influence.

The defence will also be more balanced with James Tavernier and Leon Balogun strengthening the right-hand side.

Clinton Nsiala has impressed since making his debut and his job for the rest of the season will be to rotate with Balogun, unfortunately, he isn’t eligible for the Europa League because his passing could have been a useful weapon.

Midfield almost picks itself given that Ianis Hagi isn’t registered, Mohamed Diomande is suspended and Kieran Dowell has been told to find another club.

Nicolas Raskin and Connor Barron have linked up well in the Europa League and Nedim Bajrami’s best performances for Rangers have come in Europe – aside from how he kept Callum McGregor quiet against Celtic from the No.10 role.

Rangers attack throws up problem position

Two positions in the forward line are taken by the in-form duo of Hamza Igamane and Vaclav Cerny, fresh from sitting out at last weekend.

Who joins them could dictate how Rangers play.

Ridvan Yilmaz would offer natural width and the ability to interchange with Jefte whilst Cyriel Dessers will be confident after scoring a hat-trick, despite the lower league competition.

Igamane could drift out to the left to help with building play and holding the ball up, Dessers inclusion would also give Rangers a bit more height in the team.

The curve balls would be Ross McCausland or Rabbi Matondo coming in from the cold, the latter could be more dangerous, but it looks like his time in Light Blue is done with a loan move to Coventry City being reported.

If Igamane was slightly deeper, he wouldn’t be as isolated against three central defenders, however, Clement won’t want his most potent attacking threat doing shuttles to cover a wing-back.

With this in mind, this is how Rangers should set up:
