Rangers praised by £56m superstar in front of an audience of 29.3m

Brazilian superstar Kaka was buoyed by his trip to Rangers as the former AC Milan and Real Madrid superstar sent a message to his 29.3m Twitter followers.

Now 39, Kaka was part of the World XI team who played a Rangers XI at Ibrox in aid of the Gers’ 150th anniversary and the Luis Figo foundation.

Joining a whole host of top superstars from both inside Ibrox and out, former Balon d’Or winner Kaka was amongst the biggest names on show for the Rangers support yesterday.

Taking to Twitter after the match, the humble midfielder took the time to share some images from the game and praise the atmosphere generated by the Rangers support.

Kaka also took the opportunity to wish Rangers a happy 150th birthday.

Winning the best player in the world gong during his time with AC Milan in 2007, Kaka broke the global transfer record when he moved to Real Madrid for £56m in 2009 [BBC Sport].

Also earning 92 caps for the Brazilian national side – and scoring 29 goals – the attacking midfielder is regarded as one of the best players of his generation.

It just goes to show you how much of an impact the Rangers Legends game has had and we’re sure Kaka was made to feel right at home by Rangers and the club’s support.

The tweet came after a Rangers XI took on a World XI in front of a 40k crowd on a memorable afternoon at Ibrox.

Thousands gathered at the stadium – many with young families – to celebrate 150 years of Rangers Football Club and watch some of the biggest names in Rangers and football history go head to head.

The visitors would win the match 3-2, with Shota Arveladze putting Rangers ahead before goals from Carlos Marchena, Nuno Gomes and Ricardo Quaresma put the World XI 3-1 up.

Paul Gascoigne would then score to make it 3-2 and send Ibrox Stadium into delirium as the club paid tribute to some of its biggest names.

Meanwhile, several Premier League giants are said to be competing over the signature of Ibrox youngster Rory Wilson.
