The last thing Rangers needed after returning from the international break was to drop points against Kilmarnock.
An opportunity presented itself with Celtic blowing a two-goal lead against Aberdeen for Philippe Clement to close the gap on the top two sides in the Scottish Premiership but between his tactics and lack of quality in the squad, the opportunity was missed.
The manager has an immediate chance to make amends though with FCSB coming to Ibrox for the third round of Europa League league phase fixtures, a tie that could be easier if Gigi Becali’s team news is to be believed.

Romanian media fully aware of Rangers troubles vs Kilmarnock
Ahead of the clash with the Super Lig outfit, Romanian media outlet GSP was far from impressed with what they saw at Rugby Park:
“Disaster in the championship for Rangers, before the match with FCSB in the Europa League
“Rangers surprisingly lost today at Kilmarnock , score 0-1, in stage 8 of the Scottish championship. It is good news for FCSB as the two teams will meet on Thursday, October 24, in the 3rd stage of the Europa League.
“Philippe Clement’s team played a modest game and was defeated by a team that does not make claims to the top spots.”
Rangers need FCSB win to lift pressure off Clement
Rangers had managed to build some sort of consistency domestically before the sub-par Kilmarnock performance.
The team hadn’t fully clicked, however, with players still missing through injury, there was an element of understanding amongst the support.
Anything other than a win against FCSB will see Clement come under even more pressure with fans already questioning the big Belgian’s future.
Given the off-field issues and lack of executives, losing more games in this block of fixtures could see the season quickly derail.
A win, would give Rangers a great chance of progressing to the knockout stages of the Europa League and give fans something to cheer about.
There is still a long way to go in the league with 30 fixtures to play, however, GSP couldn’t have put it any better.
