Rangers fans are beginning to turn on Philippe Clement after the club’s latest performance and defeat to Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.
The Gers had the chance to cut the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership to three points but actually wind up six points behind Aberdeen and Celtic after defeat to Kilmarnock.
The 1-0 loss comes against the backdrop of yet another lacklustre performance devoid of leadership and creativity, with Kris Boyd believing the result is unsurprising given recent performances by Rangers.
There is a swelling disconnect between the club’s hierarchy, the fans and the playing squad, for whom not one has managed to garner a cult following or support amongst fans.
Philippe Clement – who was handed a new contract on the eve of the new season – is also increasingly in the spotlight for turgid tactics that Derek McInnes described as ‘long-ball’ come full-time.
Rangers fans, who’ve seen the club go through four managers in three years, are running out of patience in the Belgian manager whose insipid football is leaving Gers fans furious.

Rangers fans begin turning on Philippe Clement
Given the situation with Aberdeen and Celtic, Rangers had a chance to build some momentum and blew it.
To supporters, this was a bigger game for just the three points on offer and both another acid test of Clement’s management and of this new-look squad which they have both unceremoniously failed.
There are few they have actually passed.
Furious Rangers fans have taken to X come full-time and whilst Philippe Clement has tried to talk down the situation at the club, it is fair to say the manager is on the brink of losing supporters.
Many have already turned:
Whilst there are also plenty of Rangers fans pushing against Philippe Clement to be sacked, the tide is undoubtedly turning.
One of the central discussions which has fans polarised concerns the club’s repeated sacking of managers without ‘giving them time’.
But with the standard and quality of performance regressing sizeably even between this season and the last, Clement’s coat is on an increasingly shoogly peg.
One fan said ‘just because you don’t want to keep sacking managers doesn’t mean you need to continue with the wrong one’.
Another added that ‘we can’t just keep’ Clement because we have sacked previous managers.
There are others who kicked back on the suggestion Philippe Clement should go, with some believing sacking the boss will cause more problems that it solves.
Is Rangers manager’s blue suit jacket on shaky peg?
Rangers fans are increasingly apathetic and Philippe Clement faces an uphill struggle to convince those who’ve already bolted.
Trust amongst Ibrox supporters has got to be built up and the Belgian boss has little credit left amongst Rangers fans.
Defeat against Aberdeen at Pittodrie or a failure to reach the Premier Sports Cup Final – where the Gers face Motherwell in the semi – will surely see the pressure rise to untenable levels on Clement’s shoulders.
But at the same time, Rangers are a club without clear direction and leadership who have been terribly mismanaged at every level over the last four years.
With four executive roles lying vacant, Rangers fans unfurled a banner saying enough is enough during the clash at Rugby Park.
As it transpired, it wasn’t quite enough after all with Marley Watkins thoroughly embarrassing a Rangers team who just have little to no connection with the fans.
Philippe Clement is running out of time to prove he’s the man to rebuild the team with the upcoming matches set to be define his time in Glasgow.
