Rangers’ retail partners Castore face a mutiny from the Aston Villa squad just months on from when their deal at Premier League Newcastle United collapsed.
According to the Telegraph, the Aston Villa squad have complained of the club’s wet-look strips holding too much of their sweat and bogging them down this season.
Both the home and away kits have been seen sticking to the Aston Villa players and now Unai Emery and the Villa Park backroom team are working to fix the issue.
The report claims the shirts are making the players “heavy and uncomfortable” on the park and could eventually impact the club’s bright start to the Premier League season.
The situation is of substantial embarrassment to Rangers retail partners Castore, who are once again at the centre of issues south of the border and in the Premier League.
Newcastle United, rather embarrassingly, let slip that they’d signed a new deal with Adidas by way of one of those fly-on-the-wall type docu-series.
The move will see the Magpies move on from the £30m Castore contract in the coming year and is a substantial blow to the ambitious retailer.
The Telegraph have also been speaking about that situation recently and claim that issues over quality with the first-team squad and supporters were at the centre of the deal being ripped up.

Rangers retailers Castore suffer Aston Villa embarrassment
Castore are taking on the global duopoly of Nike and Adidas by representing themselves as a quality and creative alternative to football’s big two.
With the Premier League quite obviously the optimum arena to showcase their products, having two of the three clubs they represent in the division experience high profile issues is not a good look.
Wolves are the only other side in the English top flight to sport Castore shirts, with the retailer striking deals across Europe’s top leagues over the last few seasons.

But Castore’s first ever deal in football was stuck with Rangers as the Ibrox side looked to move on from the legacy issues of the Sports Direct era.
Back in 2020, Castore signed a reported £25m five-year deal at Ibrox which is now in its fourth season.
Castore will be hoping to get over this embarrassment with Aston Villa and rebuild their reputation in the Premier League.
