Rangers’ world famous Ibrox Stadium has been ranked the number one ground in the whole of the UK – much to the dismay of some salty Celtic fans.

Four Four Two magazine has ranked Rangers’ ferocious home ground as the best in the country with the power of Ibrox Stadium exemplified by that stunning run to the Europa League Final.

Over the last few years – the Champions League campaign aside – Ibrox has so often proven a fortress and it’s been on European nights that the famous Rangers support has been heard loudest.

As intimidating as it is raucous, no British footballing event in recent history – barring maybe that famous Anfield comeback v Barcelona – has been able to match the ferocity of the evenings at Ibrox since the club returned to the European stage.

But as Rangers earn kudos from one of the most respected football magazines in the land, far be it from our traditionally “please love us” rivals Celtic to react badly.

Rangers’ Ibrox Stadium ranked as Britain’s best

North of the border we’re never short of fawning Celtic voices bigging up their glorified tourist ground as some kind of football nirvana before watching them repeatedly get skudded in their own back yard.

Once considered one of Europe’s most intimidating grounds, the Parkhead side haven’t won a knockout European tie since 2004 and those “famous nights” in Glasgow’s east-end have been few and far between recently.

Whilst Celtic Park is ranked second on the list, many of our Old Firm rivals have taken to the internet to give us a lesson on self-entitlement, hypocrisy and inferiority complexes.

Just check the comments on Sport Bible’s coverage of the story:

Rangers fans and Ibrox Stadium don’t need an award for the club’s support to know it’s the best; there is no ground in the country that can generate the noise nor no support more loyal than the one that resonates globally from Glasgow’s south side.

But when these kind of things pop up from time to time, and don’t egregiously suck up to our morally self-righteous rivals to the east, their reaction always serves as something of an added bonus.

Meanwhile, high-profile Rangers links have resurfaced despite claims the club is not interested.
