Rangers will offer supporters the opportunity to replace a back of shirt sponsor for failed cryptocurrency partners Sportemon GO, the club have revealed.

The Gers have launched their new home kit for season 22/23 and the design has largely gone down well with supporters.

A retro throwback of sorts, the jersey includes a checkerboard pattern on the front and is very much in the style of the Umbro effort from 2009/10.

But fans did raise some complaints about the darkness of the promotional video as numerous factors appeared to let the launch run away from the club.

There was some speculation amongst supporters that this might be concerned with the Sportemon Go sponsor on the back of the shirt but that remains unconfirmed.

Rangers fans to get chance to remove Sportemon Go sponsor

The club have revealed that the jersey will include the Sportemon Go sponsorship on the back of the top – whilst not promoting the brand in the kit’s marketing – but assure supporters they will be able to replace the branding when a new sponsor is announced.

“The Adult replica shirts carry Official Partner Unibet & SEKO branding, along with our new partner BOXT on the sleeve,” reads a statement on the official Rangers store.

“The back of the shirt displays Sportemon Go and the Rangers Store will offer supporters the complimentary option to have new branding applied in this area, when we announce our new 22/23 season back of shirt partner within the coming weeks.”

Sportemon Go announced earlier in the year that they had ceased trading, the collapse of the virtual token and NFT company symbolic of the fragility of the industry.

The decision to partner with the business has raised some eyebrows about the morality of working with these companies and even drew the ire of Club 1872 as they went to war with the Ibrox directorate in the wake of the Old Firm friendly in Oz.

Whatever the case, it’s good to see the club being proactive with regards replacing the sponsors and let this be a lesson regarding who we partner with in the future.

The Gers this week announced the brand who could be set to replace Sportemon Go too, as the club announced a deal with Socomec.
