Danny Rohl has decided to take the mini-break from domestic football as a chance to take his Rangers players to Spain.

The Gers had an extra week to prepare for the post-split games due to them being knocked out of the Scottish Cup.

Fellow title contenders Celtic are playing on Sunday, facing off against St Mirren in the semi-final.

The title race is expected to go down to the wire…

Ashton Scally spotted with Rangers first team in Spain

Rohl has taken all his first-team players to Spain, but has also taken some from the academy, including Ashton Scally.

The young left-back has never made a senior appearance, but has been spotted in the photos shared by the club on social media.

Scally was initially linked with a Rangers exit as the likes of Manchester City were keen on securing his services, while Liverpool and Chelsea were also linked to him.

The 15-year-old has been consistent at the youth level, and the Premier League clubs want him to join their Under-18s side.

However, Scally will not be leaving Ibrox and will put pen to paper on a long-term contract.

Along with the young defender, 17-year-old goalkeeper Rydnn McGuire has also travelled to Spain.

Will Scally make his debut under Danny Rohl this season?

The fact that Rohl has called up Scally to first-team training in Spain and not asked him to train with the academy shows just how highly he is rated.

The German will also have spoken to the youngster about playing for the senior side in the future, which led to him turning down interest from Premier League clubs.

Given how intense the title race is, Rohl will probably not have the luxury to hand Scally minutes off the bench, but he could include him in the matchday squad in one of the games.

If Rangers are holding a two or three-goal lead and are expected to see out the match, then the Gers boss may decide to give him five or 10 minutes at the end.

Right now, the priority for Scally will be to get as much as he can from the senior players and make an impact on the coaching staff.
