Ashton Scally’s Rangers future has been the subject of discussion in recent weeks, amid links to Chelsea and Arsenal.

Manchester City also eyed a move for Scally, and it seemed like an Ibrox exit was on the cards for the 15-year-old.

However, that interest did not materialise, and a move to the Premier League giants is not on the cards for the young left-back.

Ashton Scally set to sign long-term deal at Rangers

Rangers News reported this week that Scally appeared set to fend off interest from elsewhere and stay put in Glasgow.

According to the Daily Record, he will not just be signing an extension for the sake of it, but will be putting pen to paper on a long-term deal at the club.

He will follow in the footsteps of Kyle Glasgow, who also will stay at Rangers, despite interest from elsewhere.

This will be viewed as a major coup by the Ibrox hierarchy as two of their talented youngsters have committed their futures to the club.

Danny Rohl has been playing a hands-on role in keeping the academy players at the club by issuing first-team promises to them.

Both Glasgow and Scally were in line for senior debuts this season, but due to their age, were ineligible to play.

How Danny Rohl is building for the future at Ibrox

Rohl was under consideration to join Rangers before Russell Martin got the job and even after Martin’s sacking, the German was not the first choice.

However, on getting the job, he made it clear that he would not only improve the team in the short term but also in the long term.

This was proven to be the case with his signings in January, as all three permanent deals – Tuur Rommens, Tochi Chukwuani and Ryan Naderi – will be at the club for the foreseeable future.

They are not only players with immense potential but also those who can immediately strengthen the playing eleven.

Rohl is also making promises to the academy players, which shows that he cares about the future of the club and is doing his best to integrate youngsters into the first team.
