Rangers should now reignite their interest in 2019 target Karlan Grant as Alfredo Morelos finds himself a new club.
What’s the story?
Well – according to Vamos Sevilla – the Colombia international will be joining Sevilla when his contract at Ibrox officially expires in July.
To lose a player like Morelos for nothing represents a blow for Michael Beale and Ross Wilson – to say the least.
However, Rangers can find themselves an ideal alternative – as well as a younger option – in Grant.
The Scottish Sun claimed that Steven Gerrard wanted to sign the 25-year-old from Charlton back in 2019 as Rangers started to prepare for life after Morelos, as the 26-year-old South American attracted interest from other sides.
Eventually, Grant moved to Huddersfield, before he was signed by West Brom in a £15m deal back in October 2020.
The West Brom No.18 was superb for the Baggies last season, finishing as their top scorer with 18 goals in 44 Championship appearances.

However, Grant has fallen out of favour at the Hawthorns since Carlos Corberan arrived, and has made just 13 starts from a possible 36 in the Championship this term.
Therefore, the London-born striker could be tempted away from the Midlands by Beale and Wilson, especially with Champions League football on offer next season.
Grant would be an ideal Morelos replacement for Rangers
In our view, Grant is the man to replace Morelos in Glasgow.
Like the Colombian, Grant is always on his toes inside the box, ready to pounce on any opportunities which fall his way.
The West Brom No.18 is actually much quicker than Morelos, so it could even be argued that he would be an improvement on the South American who is seemingly heading to Sevilla.
Of course, with a contract at West Brom until July 2026, it may be a costly move for Rangers, although Grant could end up helping Wilson seal it by pushing for a transfer, as he finds himself out of favour under Corberan.
