Rangers star Ryan Jack has made a glowing start to the season in Scotland, with the former Aberdeen captain’s commanding and confident midfielder displays catching the eye of supporters.
Steven Gerrard also talked Jack up recently – the same way he always has – and there was even the suggestion of a “reward” [Scottish Sun] should the Scotland international keep it up.
And whilst Jack missed out on Steve Clarke’s maiden Scotland squad, he appears a shoo-in for the next one.

His passes are positive and composed, and he is not afraid to carry the ball forward and shoot.
He’d have had a goal against St. Mirren if it wasn’t for some fine goalkeeping from Vaclav Hladkey.
The midfielder’s passing is becoming more adventurous, and there’s a real feeling we’re seeing a player at Ibrox growing in confidence and really on the cusp of reaching top form.
He’s also a really determined, hard-working, leadership figure on the pitch who has begun to take more-and-more responsibility.

There’s more to come from Jack – he’s going to be a huge player for us this season.
But when you look at that Scotland squad, the midfield is actually an area where the country is well-stocked.
For me, Jack has earned the right to try earning a Scotland place amongst the competition.
The likes of Southampton’s Stuart Armstrong, Villa’s John McGinn and Celtic’s Calum McGregor present perhaps the best options on paper, whilst Manchester United’s Scott McTominay, Norwich’s Kenny McLean and Fulham’s Tom Cairney were also named.

The other player named in the previous squad was Graeme Shinnie, who is currently struggling at Derby [Scottish Sun].
You imagine Jack will come in for his former Aberdeen teammate. His form at Rangers is driving attention and Clarke can’t ignore him, even if he did clash with Gers fans last season.
And if he doesn’t – at least we’ll have this hugely influential player fighting fit for the season ahead.
