Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara proved his value to Rangers amid links to the Glasgow exit door as the Gers downed St. Johnstone.

The midfielder has a special ability to retain and recycle the ball and Borna Barisic aside, there probably wasn’t a better player on the pitch in the 3-0 win against the Perthshire Saints.

Kamara’s standout performance also comes amid reported £10m interest from across Europe and the Premier League [90min.com].

Ex-Arsenal academy graduate Kamara is one of the first names on Steven Gerrard’s teamsheet and has started all three Scottish Premeirship games this season for the Ibrox club.

In a newly adopted 4-2-3-1 formation there is less pressure on Kamara to be an influence in the final third, although his composure and close control are often underused assets in that area of the pitch.

There are elements of the 24-year-old’s game that need to improve – not least in getting the ball forward and playing killer passes.

But as a player who breaks up play, wins second balls and recycles possession there is no-one else in the Rangers side more capable than the Finnish international.

Having received his football schooling at the Arsenal academy, the player’s technique is more than evident and often Kamara doesn’t get the praise he deserves for a lot of the hard work he puts in.

Not only is the midfielder constantly sweeping up loose balls and neatly composing play in the middle of the park, but he’s covering for full-backs and has intelligent positioning.

Whilst £10m might sound like a lot of money for the player – especially considering he only cost £50k from Dundee in January 2019 – Kamara is a difficult player to replace.

Not only that, but there’s still room to improve for the midfielder and should Rangers keep a hold of him, that price tag could only shoot up in the future.
