Steven Davis being appointed as Rangers interim manager is not what anyone expected to see when this season kicked off.
The Northern Ireland legend is well respected by fans and players alike but I can’t imagine he ever envisaged being in this position, especially whilst still undergoing rehabilitation following knee surgery.
A well-respected leader he is though and new interim manager Steven Davis has received some words of praise from former Rangers teammate Jordan Jones.

Steven Davis given Rangers backing as he takes up Ibrox hot seat
Writing on X, Davis’s fellow Northern Irishman has given a glowing reference of the 38-year old:
“Massive good luck to Davo!!
“The best player I have ever played (with).
“I have been lucky enough to share a dressing room at club and international level with Davo and he is pure class in every aspect.
“Everyone is behind you legend.”
It was a question that a lot of fans were asking.
Who would step in if Michael Beale was sacked?
Well, we have our answer and it is something of a surprise.
In fairness to Davis, he is the same age as Steven Gerrard when he was appointed as Rangers manager and he had only marginally more experience too.

The coaching team around Steven Davis makes sense on paper too with an old-hand number two and three coaches who can organise and run sessions, leaving the interim gaffer to oversee everything.
Jones is right.
Everyone is behind Steven Davis in the hope that he can win the next two games for Rangers and get our season back on track.
Two good performances and, you never know.
