Rangers have sacked boss Michael Beale following Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Aberdeen.

Rangers fans have been expecting this news for hours now with rumours all over social media about Beale’s departure.

Beale has been on borrowed time ever since losing heavily to PSV Eindhoven and then falling 1-0 to Celtic just days later.

Beale was given a stay of execution but Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen has proven to be the end of the road.

Rangers supporters made their feelings clear and the Gers board have now decided to axe Beale after less than a year in the job.

Rangers announce Beale exit

Speculation has been mounting over the last hour with Beale heading out of Ibrox.

The Daily Record’s Scott Burns claimed on Twitter that Beale was set to leave Rangers with Rangers Review backing that up.

Fabrizio Romano then claimed that he had heard that Beale was on his way out, with official confirmation coming just moments later.

Beale was brought back to Ibrox last November, returning to the club from Queens Park Rangers following Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s exit.

Previously Steven Gerrard’s assistant at Rangers, Beale just hasn’t got the results and he’s now on his way out.

Steven Davis to take interim charge

Beale’s coaching staff have gone too, with Neil Banfield, Damian Matthew, Harry Watling and Jack Ade all leaving the club.

Rangers will be searching for a new boss but have a game coming up quickly with a trip to face Aris Limassol coming up on Thursday.

The Gers have now announced an interim coaching staff, headed up caretaker boss Steven Davis.

A Rangers favourite from two spells as a player, Davis will now be in the dugout to see the club through to a new manager.

That will be a popular decision for Rangers fans with Davis still loved by fans with his playing days coming to an end.

Alex Rae, Steven Smith, Brian Gilmour and Colin Stewart will be around Davis to help him in his first major coaching position, even if it’s only on a short-term basis.
