Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos will steal the headlines from Rangers’ hammering of Hibs on Sunday.
Rightly so, as the two deadly strikers managed five goals between them in a highly encouraging display at Ibrox.
However, it wasn’t just the forwards who performed well on the day, as acknowledged by Steven Gerrard in his post-match interview with RangersTV.
Wide players Jordan Jones and Sheyi Ojo played their part in terms of stretching the opposition, as well as providing a goal and multiple assists.
There may not have been a clean sheet, but defensively the Gers held firm too, despite a period of pressure from the opposition.
Two central midfielders were singled out for particular praise, though, in the shape of Steven Davis and Joe Aribo.

Rangers manager lauds Davis and Aribo after commanding displays
“Steven Davis’ performance was outstanding”, Gerrard told RangersTV. “I think if you take Jermain’s hat-trick away he was probably our best player.”
“What a start to a career Joe Aribo has had. I think the fans have took to him, he’s took to the fans, and I’m really looking forward to seeing that one blossom as well.”
High praise indeed from Steven Gerrard, who also labelled Ryan Jack’s outing as ‘solid.’
Glen Kamara regularly impressed for the Gers after signing from Dundee last January, so it speaks volumes that his playing time has been limited since Aribo’s arrival.

He and Davis complement each other extremely well in midfield, and it’s a real rarity when either player loses the ball.
Davis’ assist for Defoe’s third was sublime, while Aribo’s decision-making and range of passing were impressive throughout.
These are two top-notch midfield operators, and if Stevie G can keep them both fit, they’ll churn out many more quality displays between now and the end of the campaign.
Here are the Rangers News player ratings from this afternoon’s victory.
