Rangers, finally, look like the right decisions are being made on the pitch in that Philippe Clement could be the manager we need to take us forward with off the pitch issues in the safe hands of James Bisgrove.

The recently appointed CEO has overseen a huge transformation at the club in terms of revenue and it looks as if self-sufficiecy isn’t far away.

Speaking at the Fans Forum, held at Edmiston House, James Bisgrove explained that Rangers look to be on solid ground despite recent on field failures, as reported by the Four Lads Had a Dream blog.

Rangers on right track as James Bisgrove makes profit claim

When asked by one fan if having to sack two managers in the last 12 months was going to leave the club in debt, the former UEFA marketing guru didn’t hold back when he claimed:

“In the next week or two we will release financial results, we will record a profit for a second successive season.

“The departure of previous managers hasn’t impacted that.”

This is big news for Rangers fans.

The departures of Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale won’t have helped the finances, obviously, but it is good to see that the new manager’s plans shouldn’t be hindered by their failures.

What he will have to contend with is the squad that he has inherited because there are too many players who were bought for big fees who will struggle to make the club a profit.

This isn’t always necessary, however, what is an issue, is when they aren’t key players either.

James Bisgrove now has to make sure that this element of Rangers improves, and get value for money in first team recruitment.

Whether that is on free transfers who aren’t injury prone or £3-4m players who don’t need to be fixed or get their confidence back to rediscover their best form.

Listening to Philippe Clement speak, he doesn’t sound like the type of manager to accept second best.
