Rangers loanee Chris McKee continues to excel at Linfield as he scored another goal in a crucial win which gives the Northern Irish the advantage in the chase for the league title.

McKee joined the side on loan from Rangers in January and he has impressed immediately, featuring in all but one of his adopted sides league matches and scoring five goals in the process.

Eetu Vertainen opened the scoring for the league leaders against Dungannon Swifts with an assist from McKee and doubled his tally on the half-hour mark.

McKee then scored the home sides third, his fourth in the previous five matches, which gave his adopted side an unassailable advantage.

Linfield continued to push and Vertainen scored his third and fourth goals of the match within four minutes of each other with little over 20 minutes left and it stayed 5-0 as Linfield secured a convincing win

Rangers loanee Chris McKee continues fine form for Linfield in a routine victory

The Gers signed a 16-year-old McKee from Linfield in September 2018 and he went straight into the youth ranks.

The striker spent the 2020/2021 season on loan at League Two side Brechin City, scoring once. This spell at Linfield has been his most productive yet in senior football and hopefully gives the Rangers staff a glimpse of what’s to come.

It won’t be easy though, in the senior side we have Alfredo Morelos, Fashion Sakala, and Kemar Roofe as attacking options and that’s before you go lower down and see the talent that’s emerging from the B team.

The likes of Tony Weston and Juan Alegria will surely be due first-team football in the next year or so and these are the sort of players McKee should be looking up to for inspiration.

All he can do now is continue to score goals and fire Linfield to yet another league title.

Meanwhile, Rangers B team have defeated Celtic in a historic Old Firm clash today at Ibrox.
