Rangers loanee Daniel Finlayson finally made his debut for St Mirren in the Premiership on Wednesday, six months after heading out of Ibrox.
Finlayson captained the Gers U18s to the Scottish Youth Cup in 2019, before starring for the Colts and U20s ahead of a loan stint with partner club Orange County SC.

With so many promising young defenders on the books at Ibrox, though, there may not be room for him at the club going forward and when St Mirren snapped him up on loan in October upon his return from the United States, they secured an option to buy [Stmirren.com].
It only took the Northern Ireland youth international a few weeks to break into the Buddies first-team squad, but he had to wait an awful lot longer for his first appearance.
After being an unused substitute on 22 occasions across all competitions, he was finally used by manager Jim Goodwin in a 3-1 win over Ross County in Dingwall on Wednesday night.

It wasn’t much of an outing, as he only made his way onto the pitch in injury time to replace the experienced Richard Tait, but it’s a breakthrough for the 20-year-old.
Given that the Buddies are in no danger of relegation and have three more league fixtures remaining, the young Ger will be hoping for one or two more outings before the end of the campaign.
Only once the season is complete, is a final decision likely to be made on his future.
In other news, a player who left Ibrox in 2019 scored his tenth goal in his last six appearances on Wednesday as his stunning form continues.
