Rangers loanee Jamie Barjonas was hooked at half-time for Partick Thistle, as their wretched Championship form continues.

The 21-year-old was handed his first league start for the Jags this afternoon after scoring in the City of Glasgow Cup in midweek, replacing Darian McKinnon in midfield.

However, things didn’t go to plan.

Ian McCall’s side were outplayed in the first half, and the finishing of former Rangers striker, Kane Hemmings, had them trailing 2-0 at the break.

The 28-year-old opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, converting a simple chance from close range, and he doubled the hosts’ advantage just over ten minutes later, slotting into the bottom right corner following a sweeping attack.

Clearly unhappy with how his team were competing, McCall made a double change at the break, with Barjonas one of those going off, to be replaced by Shea Gordon.

There wasn’t much of a reaction from Thistle in the second period, though, and they mustered just a solitary shot on target throughout the 90 minutes.

The game finished 2-0 meaning the Maryhill-based club have failed to win any of their last six matches, and are two points adrift at the bottom of the table, despite having now played a game more than fellow strugglers Alloa Athletic.

Former Rangers striker Zak Rudden missed the game through injury, while Lewis Mayo is still yet to join up with the squad due to a minor strain, despite securing a loan switch on deadline day.
