Reports linking Rangers with a move for Everton’s Phil Jagielka have been rubbished by the Scottish Sun.
The veteran stopper had been linked with a move to Ibrox by oftentimes questionable news outlet Football Insider. The move never sounded like a goer, and now the Sun has clarified that.
You can see why some people might put 2 + 2 together and make 5. The experienced Everton legend, 36, could be leaving Goodison Park with his contract expiring in the summer.

Rangers need centre backs and will likely be looking to replace Joe Worrall and Gareth McAuley next season. The former looks set to return to Nottingham Forest [originally the Sun] whilst the latter’s contract is set to expire.
The lazy link that can be made between all of this and the former Sheffield United defender is that he replaces the veteran role played by McAuley.
Jagielka and Gerrard, despite being old foes, are also old England teammates and will know each other well.
It’s an incredibly unlikely move and Rangers will be setting the bar much higher going into next season. They have to be.
The club’s interest in Mexer came to an end when the Mozambican Rennes centre half signed for Ligue 1 side Bordeaux.
Rangers will now look elsewhere for reinforcements as we head into the summer window. But according to the Scottish Sun, that won’t be towards Phil Jagielka.
