Rangers will need to pay over £4m to sign midfielder Lewis Ferguson as his valuation is set by Aberdeen legend Willie Miller.
Ferguson, 21, is the nephew of ex-Gers captain Barry and the son of ex-Ibrox midfielder Derek and has been routinely linked to Ibrox throughout his career.
The Young Player of the Season during the last campaign, the Dons star started this season on fine form but much like the rest of the Aberdeen team fell away in the second half of the campaign.
Nonetheless the young midfielder scored 10 goals this season and finished as the Pittodrie club’s top goal scorer.
This week, reports emerged concerning a bid for Ferguson from Premier League-bound Watford as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the next season.
According to the Scottish Sun, Watford bid £2m for the player with Rangers monitoring the player’s situation very closely with a view to rivalling the Hornets.
Aberdeen boss Stephen Glass has said previously CLUBS will “need a lot of money” to secure the player – who is contracted to Pittodrie until 2024 – with Dons legend Miller suggesting that’s somewhere in the region of £4m.
Even if he believes that might not even be enough.
“Any club interested in signing Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson would have to come in with an exceptional bid in excess of £4m,” wrote Miller in the Evening Express.
“Even then that may not be enough as Ferguson is contracted to the Dons for the next three years – and is clearly seen key to future plans at the club.”
Rangers have been linked to a host of players ahead of the summer transfer window with midfield seemingly an area of intrigue going by a host of reports.
One of these names in particular has excited Rangers fans as the club reportedly enters the market for a top European talent.
