Eden Hazard is set to retire from football at the age of 32 despite rumours of a move to Rangers following his exit from Real Madrid.

Injuries devastated the Belgian winger’s time in the Spanish capital and was released from the final year of his contract in the summer after a disappointing stint at the Bernabéu.

Striking a deal with Chelsea reportedly worth up to £130m back in 2019, four years later the Belgian attacker is now set to hang up his boots.

At least that’s according to reputable French footballing source Get French Football News Now, who claim Eden Hazard is “poised to retire”.

Eden Hazard ‘to retire’ amid Rangers rumours

The report claims that there has been interest from Saudi club Al-Hilal in the winger, whilst there are also options in the MLS.

Quoting reports in Foot Mercato, French trio OGC Nice, Olympique de Marseille and LOSC (where the winger played before moving to Chelsea) are all interested.

There is even talk of interest from Botafogo in Brazil.

But this reported interest in Eden Hazard is all set to fall on deaf ears with the winger focusing on family time with the “intention” of retiring from the game.

Should the news be true, it’ll come as a blow to anyone who’d bought into the rumours of a Rangers move for Eden Hazard following his Real Madrid exit.

Michael Beale had claimed the club is yet to replace the influence of Ryan Kent this summer and it had some background murmurs pointing to the Belgian superstar.

There had not been any official reporting on the rumours up until the beginning of this week when Stevie Clifford of Four Lads Had a Dream claimed he’d pressed Rangers on the chatter.

You’ll be unsurprised to hear that it was “laughed off” inside Ibrox with two other high profile transfer links also rebuffed.
