Rangers-linked Dutch ace Danilho Doekhi has received more Serie A interest, this time from Atalanta, as the chase to secure the Dutchman’s signature heats up.
According to Metropolitan Magazine, Atalanta is in the hunt for Doekhi, as they aim to improve their defence. There is no indication whether the Serie A side would want the defender now or in the summer but with his contract expiring, he is free to speak to potential suitors.
Interest in Danilho Doekhi remains high
Rangers have been admirers of the 23-year old for some time now [DailyRecord], with the player even going as far to say that interest from the Gers was “beautiful”.
The club faces stiff competition as there are several European heavyweights who have also been admiring the Vitesse captain.
With Napoli having recently signed Man Utd defender Axel Tuanzebe on loan for the remainder of the season, and there being no further reports on the PSV interest, Rangers looked like they were in pole position.
An asking price was even set for a January move, with Vitesse demanding £2m if the Ibrox side wanted to get the player in before the summer.
A summer move would suit both parties, although Rangers received a record fee for the sale of Nathan Patterson, they would want to invest some of that money wisely, spending £2m when you can secure the player on a deal for free isn’t financially viable.
Whatever happens, the Gers know they are in for a hard battle to secure his signature, with Atalanta regularly featuring in the Champions League and performing well in Serie A, it could well be a difficult choice for the Dutchman.
Hopefully, he chooses wisely.
