Vitesse Arnhem would demand £2m for Rangers to sign captain Danilho Doekhi in January – despite the fact his contract expires at the end of the season.
The Gers have been extensively linked with a move for the Dutchman all transfer window long with reports suggesting Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side are in a “strong position” to make a deal happen.

With Rangers free to sign a pre-contract deal with the 23-year-old the Ibrox side could see Danilho Doekhi join the club for nothing in the summer.
But according to the Daily Record, if Rangers want to get a deal done early – as we’ve seen with previous pre-contract moves – then they can expect to stump up.
According to that report, Doekhi is viewed as a potential Connor Goldson replacement but the defender himself wants to remain in the Netherlands and at Vitesse until the summer.

If someone does want to make the move permanent before then, then the report claims that clubs would have to stump up £2m.
Rangers one of a number of clubs linked to Danilho Doekhi
Rangers might be one of the clubs leading the pack for Danilho Doekhi but they’re certainly not the only club who’ve been linked in the press.
The Gers were linked alongside Serie A side Napoli and Croatian Champions Dinamo Zagreb earlier in the window, with Dutch giants PSV also mentioned as an interested party [Voetbal International].
Danilho Doekhi himself has even commented on the interest and claims he’s “flattered” to be mentioned alongside Rangers whilst admitting he does not want a January move.
“They do follow me, but there are several other clubs,” said Danilho Doekhi [Gelderlander].

“A winter transfer is not ideal. You step in somewhere halfway. But if there is an opportunity, I shall not let it pass.
“Of course, I get the stories of Napoli and Rangers, I am flattered.
“Scotland is passion. In Italy, you really learn the profession of defending. It’s both very beautiful.”
Speaking of that reported Napoli interest in Danilho Doekhi, the Rangers transfer rivals appear to have shifted their focus elsewhere for the time being.
