Rangers legend helps Edinburgh punter to BBC fortune

Rangers legend Ally McCoist once again captures the hearts of the nation as he helps a nurse from Edinburgh win a fortune on BBC gameshow The Wheel.

The loveable former Ibrox striker was helping nurse Helen as part of the gameshow with Ally McCoist one of six experts on The Wheel.

The legendary ex-Scotland international was joined by the likes of former Labour minister Ed Balls, Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite and presenter Dan Walker.

Despite McCoist’s expert subject being Scottish football, nurse Helen selected Super Ally when The Wheel landed on the chance to win an £82k jackpot.

On the subject of “Lost Civilisations”, Ally McCoist was tasked with advising Helen on which modern day country was the lost city of Troy located.

The four options for the answer were Egypt, Greece, Iraq and Turkey, with Ally McCoist pointing Helen in the direction of Turkey on the gameshow.

As the contestant was pressed for an answer, she took the advice of Ally McCoist and the gameshow ended in tears as Helen embraced the Rangers legend and won the prize.

Rangers legend Ally McCoist then took to social media to celebrate and posted a congratulatory message to his followers.

Rangers fans everywhere adore the contribution of Ally McCoist for his years of service to the Ibrox club and he remains one of the Gers’ greatest ambassadors.

Before he appeared on a gameshow or two, Ally McCoist played for Rangers for 15 years, scoring 355 goals and winning 20 major honours.

The legendary Scottish footballing figure also spent time as Walter Smith’s assistant whilst McCoist managed the club between 2011 and 2014, the most tumultuous time in Rangers’ history.

Meanwhile, one Rangers summer signing has been linked with a January exit.
