Rangers left-back Ridvan Yilmaz has once again been linked with a January return to Turkey and Trabzonspor – despite Rangers’ insistence he won’t be going anywhere.

The Turkish wing-back, 21, is currently injured but has found chances at a premium since joining the Ibrox club in a reported £3.4m rising to £5m deal [Sky Sports] from Besiktas in the summer.

Highly-rated in his native Turkey, the move turned heads in the East but as Yilmaz settles into life in Scotland Rangers fans have only seen glimpses of what the kid can offer.

Turkish reports had previously suggested that Ridvan Yilmaz could return to Turkey on loan in January and now the links are back over the weekend.

Rangers’ Ridvan Yilmaz linked with Trabzonspor move

Fanatik are claiming that the reigning Turkish champions – who are 7th in the Super Lig this season – are exploring the “conditions” of a potential loan move.

This is despite under-fire Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst insisting Ridvan Yilmaz is not going anywhere this winter.

“How many players do you see who sign for £70m or £80m who take time to adapt to their clubs?” Said Van Bronckhorst.

“Every time we have players who need time to adapt it seems to be considered a problem. It is not a problem.

“It is just the way we have to deal with different circumstances. That is very important. For him [Ridvan Yilmaz], it is different to Tom Lawrence or Rabbi Matondo. They are used to living in the UK so it is no problem for them.

“For him [Ridvan Yilmaz], it is a really big step. He needs to adapt to his new team mates, to a new playing style, new tactics. But, as I said, he is much closer now to playing and to starting than he was a couple of months ago. So for me there is no debate about loaning him out or anything. Nothing.”

Meanwhile, as Ridvan Yilmaz is linked with an exit, one Rangers-linked star is seemingly set for release.
