Rangers have issued a special communication via Twitter, praising fans for their ‘incredible support’ after a run of three consecutive home games.

In less than a week, the Gers faced Lyon, Motherwell and Livingston at Ibrox.

It was a gruelling run for the players but possibly even more so for the paying fans.

It’s been a big few months in terms of costs for Bears, with season ticket renewals, the share offering, MyGers memberships, the return of European football and a host of kit releases.

Yet, 35,779 supporters still turned out for Wednesday night’s Premier Sports Cup quarter-final against Livingston.

At £25 for adults, tickets were significantly cheaper than they are for Europa League group stage action, but it was still a commendable effort from supporters to turn out in such force.

Last Thursday, the attendance for the Europa League Group A meeting with OL was 44,906, while 48,961 fans packed in for the flag day Premiership meeting with the Steelmen.

Rangers clearly felt that the loyalty shown by the fanbase deserved a special shoutout.

On Thursday morning, the club tweeted: ‘Three games. Three competitions. Six days. Over 129,000 in attendance at Ibrox. Thank you for your incredible support. Next up, Dundee (A).’

The week may not have gone exactly how the players, staff and supporters would have wanted it to, but the win over Livingston did bring the run of home fixtures to an end on a high.

Now, it’s time for back-to-back away matches, with a trip to bottom-of-the-table Dundee on Saturday to be followed by a meeting with Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic next Thursday night.

In other news, supporters have expressed their delight at major news that came out of the club earlier this week.
