A Kick442 report has claimed that BSC Young Boys star Jean-Pierre Nsame could join Rangers this summer.

The 27-year-old striker turned out against Rangers twice during the Europa League group stages, playing 90 minutes in his team’s 2-1 win in Berne and an hour of their 1-0 defeat at Ibrox.

Nsame failed to score against the Gers but netted against both Porto and Feyenoord and has been in remarkable form in the Swiss Super League.

The Cameroon international has scored 30 times in 30 matches in the ongoing campaign, leaving him 14 clear in the race for the golden boot.

The Kick442 report claims Steven Gerrard has already spoken with the player and that the Gers are willing to pay around €4.2 million to bring him to Scotland once the Swiss season finishes.

Rangers aren’t alone in their alleged interest, though, with Tottenham, Everton, West Ham and AS Saint Etienne all also said to be interested in the forward whose current deal runs until 2023.

Nsame missed several good chances against the Gers when they travelled to Switzerland and wasn’t overly effective in Glasgow.

However, outside of those two fixtures his performances in front of goal this season have been simply outstanding.

Nsame’s goals have been the key factor in Young Boys’ charge for the Swiss title and Bears would no doubt be delighted if a player of this goalscoring pedigree was signed by the club, especially if Alfredo Morelos does leave in the coming weeks.

Given the length of the 6ft 2″ forward’s current deal and the apparent interest from elsewhere, though, it’d be a big surprise if he went for as little as €4.2 million.
