Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack will miss the club’s Europa League last 16 tie against Slavia Prague in a major injury blow.
Gers boss Steven Gerrard made the revelation ahead of the crunch match at Ibrox which is neatly poised 1-1 with Rangers having an away goal advantage.
Jack, 29, is considered amongst the club’s most influential players and has struggled with injury throughout this campaign – something which has previously had Gerrard acknowledging they’d need to manage the midfielder effectively.
But whilst Jack’s absence against the Czech Champions is a setback, the Gers are also unsure if the club’s number 8 will make the weekend’s clash with Celtic in a double injury blow for the midfielder.
The match with Slavia is certainly of greater importance in terms of the season with the League Championship already wrapped up and ambitions to go deep into the Europa League this season.
But the tie with Celtic is also the opportunity to maintain the club’s unbeaten domestic form this season and overcome the biggest hurdle in their quest for an invincible campaign.
Jack’s recent injury record won’t have fans confident that he overcome the knock in time for Sunday’s match but there will be no-one more disappointed by this than Jacko himself.
The midfielder is an important part of this team and squad and losing his industrious presence in the middle of the park is always a big blow to Rangers’ chances.
