Rangers have landed an early blow on Europa League opponents Slavia Prague as the Ibrox side stream in front of their Czech counterparts on a social media poll.
The official Europa League Twitter account posed fans the question over which of the two sides would make it through to the tournament’s quarterfinals.
At the time of writing – with a day still to run on the poll – Rangers have raked in over 84% of the vote with over 9000 Twitter users voting.
That means Rangers are being heavily backed to progress in the competition this week.
The tie is evenly poised ahead of Thursday night’s match at Ibrox with the Gers holding the advantage over Slavia courtesy of an away goal in a 1-1 draw in Prague.
That result means that if Rangers can keep a clean sheet at Ibrox they will progress to the last eight of the tournament with fans and players alike beginning to dream of a heroic European campaign.
Reaching the quarterfinals would be an achievement in itself and one step further than reaching the last 16 in the last campaign, the Gers falling to Bayer Leverkusen last season.
This time around however the Gers are firmly in the driving seat ahead of the club’s clash with Czech Champions Slavia in what promises to be an electric match at Ibrox.
For Rangers fans getting excited about the tournament, the comments of Steven Gerrard and his backroom staff are sure to be music to their ears.
