Slavia Prague are set to be without four first team players for the visit of Rangers in the Europa League this week as both teams vie for a spot in the competition’s quarter finals.
Most pertintently, the Czech’s will be without centre-back David Hovorka and central midfielder Petr Sevcik through long-term injuries.
Czech international Hovorka tore his anterior cruciate ligament at the end of January and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines to recover.
Similarly, Peter Sevcik has a long-term knee injury which will both keep him out of the Rangers clash and for a lengthy period alongside Hovorka.
Sevcik in particular is regarded as a key player for the side and his absence is surely being felt by the club.
Despite the injury, Slavia have also just announced a new contract for the influential midfielder [Slavia].
On top of that Slavia will be without Ivorian midfielder Ibrahim Traore due to a muscle injury and Michal Beran – a young midfielder – considered a doubt.
Rangers head to the Czech Republic with injury problems of their own with captain James Tavernier the main absence ahead of the match.
The Ibrox skipper remains sidelined after picking up a knock in the 4-3 win away to Royal Antwerp in the last round.
Nigerian international Leon Balogun is also suspended for the match whilst Ryan Jack is not expected to be available.
However, the Gers have been boosted by the return of one player to the side who has already lit up the European stage this season.
