Rangers fans haven’t seen the last of Celtic defender Shane Duffy after Brighton manager Graham Potter confirmed the centre-back’s Glasgow nightmare won’t be ending any time soon.
The Ibrox supporters have watched on in ruthless glee as Duffy has toiled in Glasgow with the boyhood Celtic fan’s stuttering performances summing up the collapse of their entire side this season.

But one Rangers Hall of Famer will have played a key role in moving the Irishman out on loan, with Celtic forking out a reported £2m and paying £25k per week for his services [Sky Sports].
Ex-Rangers captain Davie Weir is Brighton & Hove Albion’s “pathway development manager” and manages the loan deals out of the club.
When he was first appointed in 2018, Albion’s head of recruitment confirmed that Weir “will also monitor the senior professionals who are out on loan” and feed that back to the manager.
This story on the official Brighton website highlights the job done by Weir as back in August 2020 he provided an in-depth review of the performances of those players out on loan at the club.
It makes Graham Potter’s comments all the sweeter.
“Shane is at Celtic for the season,” Potter said [Herald]. “That was the arrangement, he was keen to go there and Celtic were keen to have him.
“It’s a season-long loan and we will assess at the end of that season, it’s probably not gone as well as he would have liked.
“But I have said before that Shane is a fighter, he is a good character and a good guy. I am sure he will be fighting to make things better.”

As evidenced by his performance in the 2-1 Celtic defeat to St. Mirren, there’s still plenty of comedy value left in the big man this season and maybe we’ve got Davie Weir to thank, even if that wouldn’t have been this consummate pro’s intention.
Rangers fans have had plenty to laugh about regarding their Old Firm rivals Celtic this season, not least at the fact a manager has just resigned after one of their players was forced upon him.
