But current Marseille manager Andres Vilas Boas has just taken to an explosive press conference to tender his resignation at the club because of the deal.
According to the Portuguese manager, he made it explicitly clear to the powers that be at Marseille that he didn’t want player, yet the club signed him anyway.
“The transfer window ended with the arrival of a new player (Ntcham),” said Andres Vilas Boas [Foot Mercato].
“A decision that was not taken by me. I learned about it in the morning through the press when I woke up.
“In fact, it was ‘is precisely a player that I refused, first let go of AVB. He ended up coming, but I was not in favour.
“I therefore submitted my resignation to the management, without asking anything from OM on my contract. I don’t agree with sports policy and this decision-making.”
Vilas Boas’ comments also come the weekend after Marseille were forced to postpone their Ligue 1 fixture with Rennes due to angry protests from their supporters.

Marseille are currently 9th in Ligue 1 with only two wins in ten games and they have also sold influential midfielder Morgan Sanson to Aston Villa.
Rangers might be on the outside looking in regarding this one, but the club’s fans just couldn’t help but take to Twitter in laughter as the latest calamity attached to Celtic unfolds:
