Connor Goldson has been at Rangers long enough now to realise what is needed to be a success, and yet, it has taken Philippe Clement’s arrival to remind them all.
The Gers boss wasn’t entirely happy, despite the 5-0 scoreline against Hearts, but there is method in his unflinching standards.
After Connor Goldson played his 300th game for Rangers, he spoke about the biggest reason why a season that was drifting has been turned around.

Connor Goldson explains Rangers difference
In pre-season, Michael Beale spoke about the quantity of work the squad was doing, which makes the vice-captain’s comments after the Ibrox thrashing all the more incredible.
Already flying, Goldson believes that they can still go to another level in pursuit of the Scottish Premiership title:
“The demands the manager puts on us, not only in games but day-by-day in training, is the main reason we’re doing so well.
“He doesn’t let standards drop in any training session.
“He wants us to reach a different level.
“I think now the boys are really believing we can.
“You see the football we are starting to play and the tempo we are starting to play at.
“The fitness is getting higher and higher.
“It’s crazy because it has only been four or five months.
“I am really excited about where this team and this club is heading.”
The changes that have been made by Philippe Clement in such a short space of time have exceeded even the wildest expectations.
Connor Goldson might have had a few lapses this season but it is clear that, as a collective, Rangers are in a much better place.
Beating Hearts 5-0 is one thing, but doing it without your most expensive summer signing, your best winger and best number 10, only proves Clement’s methods right.
Everything is about the squad and what it is capable of together if they have the right mindset, a mindset being driven every day at Auchenhowie by a manager hellbent on success.
