Rangers fans slaughter Scottish football columnist for Celtic XI claims

Rangers fans have been slaughtering former footballer and Daily Record columnist Gordon Parks for a column about a combined Rangers and Celtic XI.

The outspoken columnist was speaking after former Ibrox captain and Rangers legend Barry Ferguson claimed that at present no Celtic player would get in the Rangers first-team [Daily Record].

Speaking via a Daily Record column, Park branded Ferguson’s claims as “nonsense” and claimed only Allan McGregor, Borna Barisic and Ryan Kent would make the Celtic XI.

That means no Connor Goldson in their bumbling defence, no James Tavernier – at this point the best player in Scotland this season – and no Glen Kamara – who is reportedly attracting Premier League interest [TEAMtalk].

The debate over Alfredo Morelos or Odsonne Edouard is a long drawn out one but on current form, there’s really only one winner, and he plays at Ibrox and not Celtic Park.

“A calm assessment of both squads would suggest three Light Blue stars have a claim for a spot in the select side – Allan McGregor, Borna Barisic and Ryan Kent, with Steven Davis a decent shout to be squeezed onto the subs’ bench,” writes Parks.

“For all of Celtic’s recent struggles, they remain the better side.

“The quality and gulf in class across the board shouldn’t be up for argument given their on-going domestic dominance.”

Parks’ assessment is one which has not been taken too kindly by many Rangers fans on Twitter with many disagreeing with the ex-Clyde and Queen’s Park man:

That Gordon Parks column isn’t the only thing which has caught the eye of Rangers fans over the weekend.

The Ibrox club’s supporters have been reacting to an embarrassing banner which was hung outside of Celtic Park by their own fans.
