After Rangers duo Jordan Jones and George Edmundson breached Covid protocols and went to a house party in the west end, it’s kicked up an almighty stink at Ibrox.

The two players were amongst ten partygoers at a plush west end flat which was split up by police in the early hours of Monday morning.

Rangers themselves have acted swiftly to suspend and investigate the duo, getting out in front of the press to make it clear that this sort of behaviour won’t be tolerated at Ibrox.

As a result the club have earned the acclaim of the Scottish Government who’ve commended the Gers for their swift action in dealing with the pair, who are now in isolation for a fortnight.

But that’s not gone down well with many of the Celtic support with conspiracies galore cropping up online and their fans questioning why Celtic and Aberdeen got hammered and Rangers didn’t.

Ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton has also arrived right on time to make a big song and dance about the government’s comments and hint of a wider conspiracy at play.

Whilst he gives the Gers their dues, he claims he is “baffled” as to why the Government have applauded the club.

“First of all the players, what a couple of clowns they are,” said Sutton [Daily Record].

“Steven Gerrard and the Rangers hierarchy must be absolutely furious with the whole thing. It seems like Rangers have handled the situation really well.

“What has baffled me, absolutely baffled me, is the Scottish Government commending Rangers on that yet with Celtic and Aberdeen, the Scottish Government rounded on them.

“All this yellow card stuff and what have you? It’s remarkable how they’ve changed their tune.

“Most people across Scotland will find that as a real head scratcher, but a lot of things that have happened up there have been like that.”

Sutton appears to forget the fact that the Celtic and Aberdeen incidents are considerably different from the Rangers one in that they caused matches to be postponed.

Rangers have naturally been critical of the BT Sport pundit’s latest comments and took to Twitter to give their two cents:

If they think Rangers being applauded by the government is bad they should also read the reports surrounding any prospective SPFL punishment.

According to the Scottish Sun, Rangers can’t be punished by the SPFL as the breaches haven’t led to the direct postponement of any matches.
