There’s been much said about the impending return of Carlos Pena to Ibrox. The enigmatic Mexican has himself said the plan is to come back to the club and he looks like he has a point to prove.
Whether that’s at Rangers or not remains to be seen. He returns from two ill-fated loan spells with Pedro Caixinha’s Cruz Azul and Mexican outfit Nexaca.
Some fans have clamoured to support Carlos whilst others see him as a negative influence. The general feeling is he should be given a chance to prove his worth.
But it seems Rangers fans have short memories when it comes to the Mexican.
Pena a costly investment who also disrespected club
Carlos Pena cost around £2.5m. He reportedly earns around £25k a week.
The entire thing is a bit of a joke. But that goes some way to explaining why fans are so eager for him to come back and perform. If we paid that much, and he’s valued so highly, surely there’s something about him.
Whilst it wasn’t the fault of Carlos Pena, the club is still feeling the impact of this heavy waste of money to this day.
What is his fault, is his attitude and application. Whilst he might’ve struggled with off-field issues, Pena didn’t look like was taking things seriously at Ibrox.
It felt like a luxury holiday for the burly midfielder. More than that, he wiped his nose on a pair of Rangers shorts as a mark of disrespect when he arrived back in Mexico.
Fans are split on whether it was all that it seemed after the incident.
Whatever the case, it seems many Rangers fans have short memories when it comes to the Mexican.
