As Rangers return to pre-season training at Auchenhowie there were more than a few notable absentees.
But for Rangers fans, the absence of new signing Fashion Sakala is the one which is most catching the eye as they get excited about seeing the Zambian in Rangers colours.

The Gers beat off competition from a host of clubs from around Europe’s top leagues to sign of Sakala, 24, with West Ham, Newcastle United and French Champions Lille all linked to the forward.
It was the prestige of playing for Rangers and the influence of Steven Gerrard which eventually convinced Sakala to sign for the Gers and fans have certainly taken a shine to the forward already.
Here’s what he had to say about joining the club:
“I have the chance to choose again, I would still choose Rangers and I believe this is the perfect decision that I’ve made,” said Sakala [DJ Showstar TV].
“I had meetings with the Premier League teams. I had meetings with teams in France and in LaLiga.
“These big teams put in a lot of money in but I’m not looking for money. The money I’ll be getting for Rangers… my life will be secure.
“Playing for Rangers is better than playing for some Premier League teams. Playing for Rangers is better than playing for some teams in France.
“This is a very big team, one of the most successful in terms of trophies. They have a rich history and great fanbase.”
Needless to say, the Bears are excited to see the ex-Spartak Moscow forward get started:
However, the hold up in Sakala arriving at Rangers training could be explained by the expiration of his current contract at KV Oostende.
According toTransfermarkt, Sakala’s current deal is not set to expire until June 30th which – given that’s today – means we can expect to see the talented forward in Glasgow before long.
Whilst fellow new signing Nmandi Ofoborh officially checked in to the Rangers Training Centre this week, it was the presence of a returning defender which caught the eye of supporters.
