Rangers fans have reacted on Twitter after the starting lineup was confirmed for the Europa League group stage opener against Standard Liege.
The two sides face off in an evening kick-off in Belgium, with Benfica travelling to Lech Poznan in the group’s other fixture.
Rangers enter the game high in confidence following their dominant 2-0 Old Firm win at Parkhead on Saturday and Steven Gerrard was delighted to report pre-match that Nikola Katic is now his only player unavailable through injury.
George Edmundson, Jordan Jones and Jermain Defoe were all ineligible after failing to make the cut for the group stages, while Joe Aribo and Kemar Roofe aren’t yet fully-fit following their returns from ankle and calf injuries respectively [Rangers FC Twitter].
In the end, the manager made three changes to the side that defeated Celtic at the weekend.
Allan McGregor remains in goal, while James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and Borna Barisic are all retained at the back but Leon Balogun comes in to replace Filip Helander.
There’s one change in midfield as Ryan Jack replaces Steven Davis, with both Scott Arfield and Glen Kamara keeping their spots.
The third and final change then comes in the final third, as Ianis Hagi replaces Brandon Barker, with Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos completing the front three.
Meanwhile, there are spots for homegrown players Jamie Barjonas and 16-year-old centre-back, Leon King, on the bench.
