Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has revealed that – barring long-term absentee Niko Katic – he has a full squad of players to pick from for the match with Standard Liege.
Saying that the squad is “in a really good place at the moment” the Gers boss admitted that Rangers still need to get the returning Joe Aribo and Kemar Roofe back to full fitness.
However, Gerrard said he was “excited” at the prospect of having all his players available to pick from with everyone “fit and available”.
“The squad is in a really good place at the moment,” said Gerrard [Rangers].
“We still need to get Roofe and Aribo up to full speed. Everyone is fit and available and is only Katic not with us at the moment.
“I am excited to work with a full group of players.”
The Ibrox gaffer was speaking ahead of the trip to Standard Liege with Rangers set to face a Belgian side who are suffering from Covid positives ahead of the match.
Up to five players will be unavailable for Standard as the coronavirus situation in Liege worsens and is felt by the local football team.
The news also comes after Club Brugge had three players test positive after their match with Standard at the weekend.
Joe Aribo (ankle) made his return to the Rangers team in the 2-0 win over Celtic at the weekend whilst Kemar Roofe (calf) has been out ever since the 5-0 win over Lincoln Red Imps in September.
Rangers are yet to be hit by any major coronavirus issues and with Gerrard’s squad nearing full fitness it would come as a blow to a team currently glowing with confidence.
