Amid fear on social media that today’s League Cup final could be postponed, the SPFL have provided an official update for Rangers and Celtic fans on the state of the Hampden pitch.

Contrary to some of the assertions made by Bears both last night and this morning, the body asserts that the surface is in ‘great condition’ and that there’s ‘no inspection required.’

The Twitter post concluded with ‘Enjoy your day if you are coming along!’, with any speculation that the game won’t take place now at an end.

It’s fantastic news for fans of both clubs, as any postponement would have caused uproar and a scheduling nightmare.

Given the sheer volume of rain that has fallen in the city over the last 24 hours or so, credit must be given to the ground staff at the national stadium.

Although light showers are predicted to continue for the rest of the day and winds are expected to get up to a 48 mph in the hours before kick-off [BBC Weather], we have a game on our hands.
