While there has been no official update to suggest so, rumours are circulating on social media that the League Cup final between Rangers and Celtic could be in danger of being postponed.
The Daily Record ran an article late last night pointing to dreadful weather conditions putting the showpiece at risk, and a Gers fan account has suggested a pitch inspection is scheduled for 9 am [Rangers Sparess].
Heavy rain persisted from Saturday afternoon right through the night, with more rainfall expected today.

Light showers are predicted for the entirety of Sunday, with BBC Weather suggesting that winds of up to 48mph are set to hit Glasgow in the build-up to kick-off.
You would like to think that given the magnitude of the game, everything possible will be being done to ensure it’s played.
Yet, given the scale of the downpours in the 24 hours before kick-off, it’s not totally inconceivable that the pitch could end up waterlogged.
After all, in mid-October, Scotland hammered San Marino at Hampden in conditions that by the end of the game, bordered on farcical.
Here’s a selection of reactions from Rangers fans on Twitter:

Let’s hope this is all just hysteria and an overreaction and that the game will be able to go ahead as planned.
There’s so much riding on today and after all the talk, it’s time to see who will step up and win the trophy.
