Spanish giants Valencia have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Jack Wilshere such is the midfielder’s desire to join Rangers.

That’s according to Portuguese outlet Record, who claim that the former England international midfielder wants to move to Ibrox following his release from West Ham United in October.

The Press Association have previously reported that the midfielder would be open to a move to Ibrox but Rangers fans are mixed about these latest claims.

The Gers are well-stocked in the midfield department with the likes of Steven Davis, Glen Kamara, Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield, Joe Aribo and Bongani Zungu competing for places.

Wilshere, 28, would do well to break into a competitive team and given the wages he’d demand this may well be a risky investment the Ibrox club don’t need to make.

But it was Rangers supporters who first mooted the suggestion Wilshere should move to Ibrox.

The Gers fans were responding to the news that Wilshere had left West Ham but since then more than a few have raised their doubts about a potential move.

For others, the ex-Arsenal youngster has the potential to be a revelation in Rangers colours if the club can get him fit and firing.

Here’s how Rangers fans reacted to reports claiming Wilshere is holding out for a move to the southside of Glasgow:

The fans aren’t the only ones talking about Wilshere potentially moving to Ibrox with Rangers legend Ally McCoist claiming it would be “great” if he comes to Rangers [Scottish Sun].

There’s also an argument that it’s time Rangers moved on from the circus surrounding the player’s future in the media.
