Rangers fans on Twitter have been left underwhelmed after rumours swept social media claiming Italian brand Macron would make next season’s kits after the shambolic end to the club’s relationship with Hummel.

The rumour appears to have come out of nowhere – likely in response to reports Celtic are set to link up with Adidas – and the early response from Gers fans is far from positive.

Macron manufacturer kits for a surprising number of clubs across Europe and beyond – including eight SPFL clubs – and the addition of Rangers to their stable would be a bit of a coup for them.

Despite the spat with Hummel, this season’s kits were well received by fans although the ongoing litigation with Sports Direct, Elite and Hummel likely won’t help the Gers’ search for a new partner.

The Gers’ deal with Hummel was supposed to run to the end of next season but the Gers confirmed recently they were looking for a new retail and kit partner after raising legal action.

Fans on Twitter were less than enthused at the suggestions it would be Macron making the kit next season – with one saying the club are “lurching from one shambles to the next.”
