Rangers fans have called for Adidas to intervene after an announcement on Wednesday afternoon revealed that the club are now actively searching for a new kit and retail supplier from the 2020/21 season.

It’s stated that after years of issues surrounding selling rights, fully operational retail outlets will soon return to Ibrox.

“We’re delighted to announce that we shall be engaging with potential partners that can deliver an official Rangers kit supply and retail operation that mirrors the demand of the club’s global fan base,” Rangers Commercial and Marketing Director, James Bisgrove, told Rangers.co.uk.

Danish company, Hummel, are the current Gers kit suppliers, but it appears that a new chapter will be beginning next season.

The release promises a new look online store to tie in with whatever agreement is put in place, while also suggesting that next year’s 150th anniversary provides a unique opportunity for any potentially interested manufacturers.

While legal battles may continue in the background, this looks to be a positive step forward from the club and the post immediately drew a lot of attention.

A number of potential manufacturers were suggested by fans, but the majority called for Adidas to get involved.

The major global brand currently make kits for some of the biggest clubs in world football, including Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus.

Given their reputation and standing, it’s perhaps little surprise they’re the manufacturer of choice for many.
